When the final race ended and the results flashed up, it took a moment to sink in. It feels surreal!” said Andy Brown, still buzzing from the victory. “Can’t believe it! I knew I was at a good level going into the event and had trained very hard this year, but winning was a dream! Everything came together at the perfect time.”

It wasn’t just a win. It was a defining moment—one where preparation, belief, and raw talent converged under pressure. And for the athlete who has faced far more setbacks than podium finishes over the years, the reward was all the sweeter.

“I loved it. One of the best times racing in my life,” they said. “I felt like I was in a full flow state—just racing 100% in it. Amazing feeling.”

Perseverance pays off!

But no success story is ever a solo performance. Behind the scenes, Andy Brown credits a powerhouse support network. “My coaches James and Barrie are amazing, as well as the team. I couldn’t have done it without them all pushing me on this year, and the support from my family and friends. And of course, our incredible team sponsors—TNL UK, Musto, and the RYA—I’m very grateful.”

That sense of gratitude is matched by grit. Like many elite athletes, Andy Brown knows that the path to the top is paved with disappointment and setbacks. But it’s in those tough times that character is forged.

“Perseverance pays—and enjoy the struggle!” Andy reflects. “I’ve had so many more bad results than good ones in this sport, and it’s all about loving the struggle, the journey, and the racing. It makes the good ones so much sweeter. I feel like I’m living my dream, and this is the best sport in the world.”

With a world title now under his belt, the journey continues with even bigger goals on the horizon. “Off to LA now to see the conditions and begin to work out what it will take to win there in 2028. That’s the goal. Gold 2028.”

But before Los Angeles, there’s another special challenge waiting at home. “I'm very excited to be defending my world title at home in Portland next year too!”

From gritty beginnings to golden ambitions, Andy Brown is proof that with heart, hard work, and a love for the process, dreams really can come true.
