The iQFOIL season is officially underway, and Finn Hawkins of the British Sailing Team has kicked things off in style by winning the Lanzarote iQFOIL Games.

“Winning the Lanzarote iQFOIL Games is a great way to start the season. It shows that the training I’m doing is working and that I’m headed in the right direction!” Finn said.
The week tested sailors across all iQFOIL formats in very mixed conditions. “The event had very mixed conditions all week. We did all three formats: downwind slalom, upwind sprint and course racing. I managed to stay in top two each day, staying focused and posting consistently good results eventually taking the win!” he explained.

Success in the iQFOIL discipline comes down to both physical preparation and mental focus. “I work hard to stay physically fit and strong by training in the gym and on the water which helps give my best performance all week. Mentally I’m just trying to constantly stay focused on what’s important and block out any noise,” Finn said.
Looking ahead, Finn is keeping his training consistent while preparing for the next iQFOIL challenges. “Training plan now is to keep doing more of the same and keep working hard. I have one more training camp in Lanzarote then I’ll move to Palma to start getting ready for the Princess Sofia regatta at the beginning of April,” he shared.

With a strong start in the iQFOIL discipline, Finn Hawkins is one to watch this season—Palma can’t come soon enough!
