Scotty Stallman Finishes 20th at Windsurfing World Cup in Japan and Secures 21st in PWA World Rankings!

The Official Test Centre (OTC) pro rider Scotty Stallman has completed his latest international windsurfing campaign in Japan, finishing 20th overall at the Fly! ANA Windsurfing World Cup and securing 21st place in the final 2026 PWA men’s Foil Slalom world rankings.

Competing against some of the world’s leading windsurfers at Tsukuihama Beach on the Miura Peninsula, Scotty (GBR 68) represented the Weymouth and Portland windsurfing community on the international stage, having arrived fresh from being crowned Overall Champion at Weymouth Speed Week 2026.
After several days of frustrating weather conditions, delayed luggage and uncertainty over whether racing would even take place, Scotty finally got his opportunity to compete, securing an encouraging 13th place in the opening elimination.
Despite the challenging conditions throughout the competition, Scotty went on to finish 20th overall at the Japanese World Cup, rounding off his 2026 PWA Foil Slalom campaign in 21st position in the world rankings.
Meanwhile, the championship concluded with extraordinary drama as Amado Vrieswijk claimed victory in the men’s Japanese event but missed out on the overall world title, which went to Matteo Iachino, while Justine Lemeteyer secured the women’s event victory and world championship title.

Scotty Stallman Secures 20th Place in Japan and 21st in the World Rankings
For Scotty, the Japanese World Cup was a test of patience, determination and tactical skill.
After travelling thousands of miles to compete against some of the world’s leading windsurfers, the opening days were dominated by unpredictable weather and a frustrating lack of suitable racing conditions.
However, on Tuesday 3rd November, the wind finally delivered enough for competitors to get out on the water.
With light and shifting winds creating technically demanding conditions, Scotty successfully navigated the opening elimination to finish in 13th place.
Reflecting on his performance, Scotty said:
“Finally some action! Light and shifty winds lead to some really tricky racing where tactics were key. Happy to carry a 13th in this first elimination, although there was definitely an opportunity to improve on that, however, it’s a solid start.”

Although Scotty felt there had been an opportunity to finish higher, his performance demonstrated his ability to compete in difficult conditions against an international field.
Following the conclusion of the event on Wednesday 4th November, the final results confirmed Scotty had finished 20th overall at the Japan World Cup.
His performance also contributed to his final position of 21st in the 2026 PWA men’s Foil Slalom world rankings, another international campaign completed for the talented OTC team rider.
Having already enjoyed success on home waters at Weymouth Speed Week, Scotty’s appearance in Japan provided another valuable opportunity to test himself against elite international competition.

From Missing Luggage to Racing on the World Stage
Scotty’s Japanese adventure certainly didn’t get off to the smoothest start.
Before the competition had even begun, his luggage failed to make the connecting flight from Turkey to Japan.
With essential equipment missing, Scotty faced an anxious wait to find out whether everything would arrive in time for racing.
Thankfully, his bags eventually reached Japan, with local contact Yukio stepping in to help.
Scotty explained:
“Well that was a stressful first two days here in Japan, unfortunately my bags didn’t make the connecting flight from Turkey to Japan, so had to pray they were going to arrive today, which they did.”
He also thanked Yukio for driving him to the airport to collect his equipment.
With everything finally reunited, Scotty was ready to concentrate on racing.
Unfortunately, the weather had other ideas!

Unpredictable Winds Test the World’s Best
The opening days of the competition proved incredibly frustrating for riders and organisers.
Despite promising forecasts, the wind repeatedly failed to provide consistent racing conditions.
On the second day, no eliminations were completed, although Scotty used the available breeze to test his equipment and fine-tune his setup.
By Monday 2nd November, conditions had become even more complicated.
The PWA World Tour reported that two competing wind systems, influenced by the remnants of Super Typhoon In-fa, were effectively cancelling each other out.
Although racing briefly got underway, a sudden drop and shift in the wind forced organisers to abandon the action.
For Scotty and the other competitors, it meant another day of waiting.
Thankfully, Tuesday finally provided the opportunity to race, allowing Scotty to put his preparation into practice.
Dramatic Final Day Decides the World Titles
While Scotty’s campaign was one of determination in difficult conditions, the final day of the Japan Foil Slalom World Cup delivered extraordinary drama at the very top of the sport.
In the men’s competition, Amado Vrieswijk produced an impressive performance to claim the Japanese event victory.
However, a dramatic collision with teammate Pierre Mortefon before the start of the final race proved decisive in the battle for the overall world championship.
Despite winning the Japanese event, Vrieswijk missed out on the season’s world title, with Italy’s Matteo Iachino crowned the 2026 PWA men’s Foil Slalom World Champion.
In the women’s fleet, France’s Justine Lemeteyer demonstrated remarkable consistency, sealing the Japanese event victory with three second-place finishes.
Her performance was enough to finish ahead of Lina Erzen, who recorded two race victories but also carried a fifth-place result as her final counting score.
Lemeteyer also secured the 2026 women’s Foil Slalom world championship title.
The championship finale brought high-speed action, tactical racing and an extraordinary conclusion to the PWA season.

From Portland Harbour to 21st in the World Rankings
For Scotty, finishing 21st in the 2026 PWA men’s Foil Slalom world rankings represents another milestone in his international windsurfing career.
His appearance at the World Cup followed his success at Weymouth Speed Week 2026, where he was crowned Overall Champion after an impressive performance on the waters of Portland Harbour.
As a team rider for The Official Test Centre, based at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, Scotty is part of a watersports community with a strong reputation for producing and supporting talented competitors.
From racing on home waters to competing against the world’s best in Japan, his journey demonstrates the opportunities available to athletes developing their skills in Weymouth and Portland.
Although the Japanese event presented plenty of challenges, Scotty remained positive throughout, making the most of opportunities to test equipment, prepare and compete.
His final results of 20th in Japan and 21st in the world rankings provide another valuable chapter in his competitive windsurfing journey.
